15 credits in autumn semester
Teaching method: Seminar, Lecture

What is the historical context of our politics? How do interpretations of the past influence political identities, divisions and alliances in the present? Which myths and memories have proved particularly powerful and enduring?
On this module, you’ll explore the key questions, concepts and controversies in modern British political history, with a focus on the period since 1945. You’ll also examine how the political nation is defined: which voices are heard, which are excluded and how this has changed over time.
You’ll study these subjects not only through academic analysis, but also as ongoing political debates. You’ll trace their impact on later political discussions and examine how politicians have shaped their own versions of British political history.
